Carthamus tinctorius seed oil, also known as safflower or thistle oil, comes from the seeds of the safflower plant. The thistle-like plant is a member of the sunflower family and is cultivated worldwide for its oil that is used in both cooking and beauty.

It's a valuable component in skincare formulations due to its fatty acid profile of primarily linoleic (acid omega-6) - a skin-loving fatty acid which makes up 85% of safflower oil. Linoleic acid possesses properties that aid in skin emollience and maintaining skin barrier health.

Additionally, linoleic acid helps to regulate sebum production, making it beneficial for oily or acne-prone skin types by preventing pore congestion. Its lightweight texture ensures fast absorption without leaving a greasy residue.
